As a monthly feature Eiryukan will be introducing a dojo in the U.K which studies Yoshinkan Aikido. This month we will take a look at the Nottingham based Shoshinkan, Chief Instructor Andy Hobday. Shoshinkan was founded in May 2005 and has grown to be a very successful and positive place to study Aikido. If you visit the website you will be able to find very comprehensive yet reader friendly information on Aikido and its history. Students at Eiryukan have already had the opportunity to study with Sensei Andy and the students at Shoshinkan on several occasions. There has always been a very warm and positive welcome which has left students keen to return on any possible occasion.
The kanji above display the characters Sho (beginner) Shin (mind) and interestingly shin can also be read as heart which the Shoshinkan has in abundance.
Eiryukan has opened its you tube channel with footage of freestyle / jiyu waza. If you like this clip then keep posted for weekly updates of Aikido techniques and ideas. Its free to connect to our channel http://www.youtube.com/user/eiryukan. If you feel like Aikido could be for you why not take a look at our class schedule around Lincoln?
Last Saturday saw the second Eiryukan Aikido demonstration at Manor Leas Junior. A great turnout saw our students run through kihon dosa and some basic techniques, they were fantastic, well done to everyone. Andy M kindly took part and gave the spectators a look at 31 jo moves. Another excellent summer festival in Lincoln. We may have some footage of the event coming soon but for now you can learn the 31 jo moves on our you tube clip.
