Eiryukan Top Girl

We are currently looking in detail at Eiryukan and its amazing people. For a kick off we want to celebrate our top girl, Erin Rowe. Erin started Aikido from the very first humble beginnings in January 2008 at Sir Francis Hill Junior School. She has just started her new journey at secondary school and we wish all the successes for that. We know she will do brilliantly because she has shown so much courage and dedication to her Aikido path over the last 4 and a half years. Erins favourite part of Aikido is getting stuck in and attacking Sensei in free style mode, she always gives 100% and never holds back. This is basically the true spirit of Yoshinkan. She has helped coach younger members for the last six months even in her busy schedule of dashing off to Guides on a Monday evening. An all round balanced lady. Erin travelled all the way to London earlier this year to train with 9th Dan Takeno Shihan, master instructor who visited all the way from Yamanashi, Japan. Check her out in the above link. This was an amazing experience and opportunity for all and she took it in her stride without batting an eyelid. She is the first girl to make 3rd Kyu, the first junior brown belt level and her near constant attendance has given her this edge. We are so proud that Erin has achieved so much with us, she is a joy to coach and always has a happy and polite manner. We wish her well for her future Aikido endeavours and look forward to seeing her as a black belt, on a mat near you soon. Amazing Erin.

Eiryukan Book X-Factor

Exciting news fans of Eiryukan Aikido. Shioda Sensei is releasing a new book in November available on Amazon. What a great thing I thought but what about all the Eiryukan students? Clearly we have something special to show everyone. Due to this inspiration we are full steam ahead and going to make an amazing new book starring you. As you already know there are lots of energetic students and wonderful places to go and practice your Aikido skills every day of the week. So how will Sensei choose who will be in the book I hear you cry. I would love to have everyones brilliant Aikido in there but as we only have so many pages. You all have the chance to get in there by standing out from the crowd. First write a short story about Aikido, your experience, what you love, why it is so good to take part etc. 200 words will be plenty. If you need further inspiration read Sensei Nevs summary of his Aikido journey right here on our website. Secondly take a snap shot of you doing some snappy Aikido moves so we know you are ready for Eiryukan Books front cover :) Good Luck and be brilliant !

Dedication Equals Progress

What a great picture of Connor and Ethan in their yellow belts. A picture of success and dedication. The two boys started Aikido with Eiryukan around September 2011 and have advanced 3 grades, blue, green and now to 7th Kyu. If you were at our amazing Christmas party you would have seen the boys, as white belts getting stuck in from the off and having a great time, working on their balance and posture almost invisibly gaining the benefits of regular and spirited training. The boys had some element of hypermobility and when they started Aikido there were several conversations with their parents about how this may affect them. Im really proud to say that in less than a year both boys have developed skillfully and made top progress on their co-ordination and durability. They always give loads of energy and concentrate on the lesson for the most part, as boys will be boys! Over summer time they have attended all of their regular classes at The Boiler House, Woodfield Avenue. While many other students were away rightfully having a holiday these two boys were firing 100% on the black belt path. Good luck and best Wishes for your future successes boys, Eiryukan will be right behind you all the way.
